AMALFI COAST

The tour normally starts at 08.00 a.m. from your hotel in Rome (even before if necessary) where one of our driving guides (perfectly bilingual) will be waiting for you at the reception. Then it will be time to start our driving out of the city proceeding southward towards the Italian region called CAMPANIA where Naples and the Amalfi Coast are. The ride to the Amalfi Coast will be amazing I bet. We will drive through Lazio (region where Rome is) heading for Campania all along the so-called "Autostrada". Enjoy the marvellous view of the hilly surroundings and the Abbey of Mount Cassino, known for its famous battle and complete destruction during the World War II. Once we reach the Naples area we will keep on driving south to reach our first stop: Pompeii. Right in the Naples area you will be surely surprised by the imposing size of the Mount Vesusvius (to our right), the volcano that covered in magma the entire city of Pompeii during its big eruption of the year 79 AD. Experts started to excavate Pompeii around the end of the 18th Century and that is why the ruins are still well-preserved. You will have a 2 hour tour in there, because on average that is the time needed for a good visit.
You can choose to do it on your own with or without audio-guides always following paths suggested my the maps that you will be provided with. You can follow the 1 h and 30 minute path, the 2 hour path or others.
Or you can choose to hire a tour guide for a 2 hour guided tour of the excavations, very useful for explanations and directions. Note that Pompeii can also be seen in the afternoon before getting back to the pier for car traffic reasons.
After Pompeii we will head for the real exclusive wonderful AMALFI COAST. Through a couple of galleries we will drive towards POSITANO that like a post card, pips out from the bulging
cliffs with its multicoloured houses and charming port. We will go right on top of Positano for a wonderful lunch obviously if you agree. I tell you the lunch spot, price and food will be the highlight of the entire tour and that is thanks to our continuous research of reasonable and trustworthy places where to make you eat and have fun.
Many times after this stop people don't want to leave anymore, but it will be time for the second part of the tour. After having seeing Positano we will drive back towards Sorrento, that little wonderful town famous for the little stores and warm people. Most of the time people choose to take pictures of Sorrento from the road flanking it (wonderful) and spending more time in Positano or vice versa. It will be then time to drive back to Rome.

  • to take with you comfortable walking shoes if possible;
  • to keep an eye on your wallet; it is recommended not to wear precious jewelry or large amount of cash;

  • Entrance fee to Pompeii ruins is 11.00 euro;
  • Additional 2 hour professional guide for the visit of Pompeii ruins 120.00 euro;
  • The 120.00 euro for the optional tour guide are not included in the rate, we will add them to it if you decide to hire a guide.

 
NOTES:
  • Exploration of Pompeii is entirely on foot and involves about 2 hour walking. Low heeled comfortable shoes and a sun hat recommended;
  • Pompeii is not wheel chair accessible

Note that the driver will not enter sites but will give running commentaries of what you are seeing The vehicle will escort you for the entire tour .Walking is limited unlike bus tour where you have to walk the whole day.
